Johan Skugge's second album, VOLUME, starts with the bright shiny tech-house of "Bring Me On" or the deeper tones of "CSB" and the title track. "Forevermen" dances around the some dub funk with its vocodered lyrics, while "Decadence" allows a phased female voice to take center stage. But the spry dub techno of "In House" is most representative of where this album stands, long, melodic tones, a bouncy beat underneath, though "Implosion" has a tinge of pop-house with its lyrics. But "Drop LFO" returns to a purely instrumental groove, and "Set-Up" goes slightly towards the minimal side. "Silencio" returns to the pop vocals, but the dub techno comes through loud and clear. Turn up the volume for this album.
